I thought I'd share a few of my Dublin pics, with a Belfast one thrown in for good measure.

(Really must get round to labelling them correctly too! Just noticed that!

I've only ever photographed at Dublin and the 2 Belfast airports. Dublin well worth a visit, lots of easily accessible places, very close to the runways, though a stepladder is helpful at one or two of them. Belfast City doesn't have a huge range of stuff but two good spots to shoot from, very close, no need for ladders. Belfast International I've had less success with. Can really only get to one place unless you're prepared to walk a long way (I'm too lazy!) but the range is limited too.james143611 wrote:I'm overdue a Dublin visit!

Santa has promised me a trip to Heathrow and / or Manchester just to shoot the planes so I'm really looking forward to getting that organised!
We had heard both Heathrow and Manchester were good, and both obviously give us a lot more of a chance of seeing different (and big!) stuff. Dublin is 2 hours away from me so I'll be flying out of Belfast (Belfast City is 15 minutes away). The plan as it stands at the minute is to overnight at the nearest hotel to the spotting locations, preferably one in the airport. So that would essentially give me 2 full-ish days to shoot. Am I going to need to hire a car? (You are dangerously close to being appointed my Heathrow and Manchester Expert!mach one wrote:one of the board mods is a belfast regularjames143611 wrote:I've only ever photographed at Dublin and the 2 Belfast airports. heathrow and manchester are both well worth a visit and there are some great places to take pictures at both without the need for a ladder, I try to get to manchester as often as i can but it is a 300 mile round trip so cant just pop over for an hour or so, i try to do heathrow at least twice a year and that is a 500 mile round trip
can you do a day trip to manchester on the ryanair out earl and back late from dublin ?
Congrats, you have been appointed my expert!mach one wrote:a car is not essential you can manage on foot or on the bus, nearest hotel is the radisson blu which is between the two terminals and some rooms have views over the terminal two ramps, next you have the hilton, the clayton hotel used to be bewleys until last year and the crown plaza all are a short walk or a free shuttle ride to terminal one
a little further out at the cargo terminal you have two premier inns and a holiday in express a short bus ride or a £6.00 minicab fare from the terminal, from any of these hotels it is a 10 minute walk to the runway viewing park which is free admission to walkers

a car will take you over to the south side which is where i tend to go but you can still have a great couple of days at the terminal and the RVP
Oh yes, they're my usual spots! And the bridge at the Sydenham Bypass! Can we still get up to the top deck of the car park now that airport parking place has closed? Haven't been up since then. Will have to post some Belfast stuff. And maybe a few from Ards.Paultojo wrote:Nice shots, have you tried Ikea at the City and the old Killead Road at the International, very little walking involved![]()
