First Boeing 747 at Edinburgh early 1977 EI-ASI

Not very good pics, I'm afraid, but record the event. It was on a rugby charter. I remember when it went back to Dublin, Servisair had inadvertently put 407 pax on, when there was only 405 seats available. After a chase around the cabin with Servisair staff and the cabin crew, being obstructed and tripped up by drunk and very drunk Irish supporters, it was decided by the captain that they'd "go with what they've got", being less dangerous than trying to evict rowdy supporters. To add insult to injury, Ireland lost 21-18 and they all just wanted to go home. Apparently the 2 extras sat on friendly knees.....

Great memories there John, where was the 1st one taken from - looks like it was from the restaurant kitchen windows in the old terminal?

It was too big for any Stands, so they parked it on the threshold of r/w 13 and bussed in and out the pax.

Ah right, got it now! We were doing double shifts at the time and ,quite honestly, none of us had any time to look out of the windows - we couldn't even get near the windows anyway. The departures after the rugby games were always a nightmare in the bar & buffet (none of them used the restaurant, so we just closed it and we used it as an additional seating area for the bar - they weren't interested in food)!
They were awful weekends to work in airport catering, we just hoped and prayed all weekend that nothing went tech and that the coaches all arrived late from the supporter's hotels.
I went to flight catering shortly after that, it was far more civilised (and nearer to Jimmy's steaks and beer in the Flying Club ) and I didn't have to deal with annoying customers that complained that they'd had to wait for more than 3 minutes for their gin & tonic.

Big like for Jimmy's kitchen and steaks ...No beer as were on Shuttle Back Up ... Standby to fly the back-up T1 if the the front runner T3 was full ....
Then we had the Irish [ but really Iris , shuttle controller who invented the concept ] Back-up .... departed before the front runner when front runner guaranteed to be full and Shuttle fleet was short of a/c .
