part of the blame is put on post - Shoreham regulations affecting fast jets. An interesting read and a sad end to a show that has been around for my whole lifetime. I haven't been for a few years partly due to the cost and pain of getting there - it's opposite side of London for me and most annoyingly the manufacturers regularly remove their exhibits before the public weekend and they were what made it different and worthwhile - seeing something new.

The Friday public day will still happen but that's all

It has been going downhill for years, not just post-Shoreham. The last half-decent one I went to was 2010. I went in 2016 on the Friday, but it was poor (weather didn't help). Most of the companies had quit their stands, Boeing had gone (with their aircraft).
Didn't bother with 2018 - nothing I was interested in.

It is an easy trip for me, the longest it has taken me (by train and free shuttle bus) was 35mins - door to display line!

I haven't been for a few years now, the price kept going up and up and when the aircraft I wanted to see had already left that made it pointless.

I almost think the £50 price tag was to put people off so that they could use falling numbers as an excuse to scrub it.
