Civilian Aviation

Hello all,

Having not been to Compton Abbas for a good 3 years or so, I somehow stumbled across this event online a few days before hand. The Pooleys event seemed to be more of an 'executive members' thing rather than a day for spotters, I did wonder if it was private but it said the public is welcome, so being a nice day I went along, seemed to be a couple of other spotters with notebooks as well and I can see why, I logged a good 80 Light Aircraft serials! Due to the high amount of GA traffic, parking stretched right out along the runway so by midday it was getting tricky for pictures as there was just too much in the way but it did clear out after an hour making some gaps for photos.

Note to anyone else that's not been to Compton for ages, if you plan to go on a good day get there early, parking on the grass in the overflow is a bit more limited as there is some framework up, looks like some sort of big shed being built, also notices about food and drink is only allowed if purchased from the café and no picnics are allowed

Equipment used is Nikon D810 with a Sigma 150-600m Contemporary.

That's a great set of shots, thanks for sharing them, James.

Just to confirm , the structures will soon be 4 new hangars . The food /drink picnic reqirement notices have been around since 2007 to my knowledge ..
