HM Coastgaurd - Eye In The Sky

vening All,
I went away for a sort break with some friends to Lincolnshire not that long back and seeing as I had a couple hours to spare I decided to make a trip up to Humberside Airport. You don't see many photos from Humber, so I thought I'd best get some to change that.
I had mainly expected to find a couple offshore rig helicopters and the evening arrival of a Sun Air, but much to my delight I found the new HM Coastgaurd "Eye In The Sky" parked on the ramp outside Eastern Airways' hangar in some rather splendid evening light.
The Coastgaurd has decided to trial a larger, faster, fixed wing aircraft to use as a platform to fly around and above any areas to which an incident or accident has been reported. The idea is that you can use it to find the boat, ship or person in destress quicker and at less expense than the existing helicopters. It can arrive at the site, circle and relay the information to the helicopter bases. It has only just began trials, having been painted and delivered in September, these trials are expected to last two to four months. Apon which they will make a decision if to keep it and possibly get any additional aircraft to join its fleet of Search and Rescue helicopters. For the time being the trials are going on along the eastern and southern coast lines, so if anyone sees a red and white turboprop going along, this is your answer.
It's an former Eastern Airways British Aerospace Jetstream 41 G-MAJB. Having spent the last 23 years ferrying passengers around it's a bit of a different way to spend its last years. I will say that the red and white colours do seem to suit it. It even has a fitting radio call sign of Coastgaurd 41!
Anyway, here's my photo of it, I hope you like it.
