Istanbul

Post by IndiaEcho » Sun Dec 28, 2014 10:34 pm

Hi,

Here are some photos from a day spent at Istanbul earlier this year.

There was never long to wait for a Turkish Airlines 737 - TC-JHU had the best livery, though:-

Image

I only saw one of Turkish's A.340:-

Plenty of 777s, including TC-JJM:-

and TC-JJO:-

A cargo A310:-

Image

Although they are by far the dominant carrier, Turkish don't have the airport to themselves, with Onur Air having a presence at the airport:-

Image

One of the first aircraft I saw was Mahan Air's EP-MNK:-

Image

Iraqi Airways sent an A330 as well as this A320:-

Image

Libyan provided an A330:-

Ariana use A320 equipment to Istanbul:-

Image

Yet more A320 action was provided by Etihad's A6-EIW:-

Image

Royal Jordanian's livery always looks good - here it is on an Embraer:-

I hope the photos are of interest - more can be found at https://www.flickr.com/photos/indiaecho ... ?details=1

very good Neil, I don't remember seeing photos fro Istanbul before so nice to see something new. Thanks for posting them.

What was photography like, you obviously had a good vantage point but are the authorities 'understnding' about the hobby?
Andygolfer (or at least I was once), now just plane crazy

Thanks for your comments.

These photos are taken from the Fly Inn shopping centre by the runway threshold. The upper floor is full of food outlets and has a balcony overlooking the action. I spent the day on the balcony untroubled, albeit I did ensure that I made regular trips to buy a drink from the shops.

Regards,

Neil

That's info worth knowing, because it looks like a great spot. Interesting to see the condensation in the engine intakes of the TK 777.
