Stansted 28/12/14.

Just a few images from my first visit to the fence at Stansted.
I spent more time searching for a location to stand to catch arrivals (and somewhere to park the car) than i actually did taking photos!
The chap in the long stay parking was kind enough to let me park in front of the information/toilet block for an hour, so i could walk round to the end of the runway, but i'd be interested to hear if any of the Stansted regulars on here have got any better suggestions of somewhere to stand/park?
Thanks in advance.

Nice set...
Check out
http://www.plane-mad.com/airport-spotti ... -egss.html - it has a list of all of the viewing areas at Stansted, and also a link to a google map which shows you where to go etc...

that's a nice set, try these links to posts in the stansted spotting info section for locations and spotting info, particularly for the north side. I put this info together s while back . Dan's link is also very useful but doesn't give as much detail re the north side business park so with the 2 you should be well covered.

Belmer road is the easiest location for parking and viewing if you can't get in the long stay although they were using 04 today so you probably struck lucky at least for the landings with your position - I guess you walked round from the long stay. They guys there are quite helpful and i've parked there a couple of times. They seem happy for the occasional stop off but would probably have to enforce rules if it became a too regular occurrence.

Thanks for the links chaps- i'll check out those locations on my next visit.
I did strike it lucky with them being on Runway 05 when i arrived- the early afternoon sun was just about perfect for that end.
The only disappointment, was getting back to the car just as A6-RJY landed. Wouldn't have minded a shot of that.
Cheers,
Justin

Hi Justin - if you plan to visit regularly (or even to see inbound flights as you are in suffolk) you might find the stansted yahoo group of interest, the members usually post if something out of the ordinary is due. some of the regular posters work at the airport so they are' in the know', here's a link but you need to sign up to see it. Our 'Porkscratching' (Nick) is the administrator for the group and he is usually very quick at approving joining requests

thanks again for posting and hope to see some more pics soon.

That's always the way for me as well...
Lost count of the number of times I've pulled away in the car, and then see something interesting coming in to land... Really must work out how to use the radio properly for the next time I get time off for good behaviour from the Missus!!
