Heron v Pike 27-03-2025

On Friday I went to Duxford in the afternoon for the Puma farewell but before that I went to RSPB Fowlmere about 4 miles away from Duxford. I saw quite a bit of wildlife but the most impressive bit was watching a heron fishing about 40m from the hide and seeing it catch and eat a pike, here is a sequence of my photos that I took....

and 10 minutes later it was hunting again, this time all it caught was a frog..

Stunning shots Andy of one of nature's true fishermen, well done mate. I've been out with my new R7 not sure about posting the shots thought

Fabulous captures! That took some swallowing.

Never been but will try to fit in with a Duxford visit.
