waxwings - my first birding outing of 2024

Post by andygolfer » Wed Jan 03, 2024 8:50 pm

There have been some waxwings at Colchester (about 18 miles from me) for about 2 weeks now and I finally went across to see them today, here are some of my many pics. There were about 20 there and showing well..

Beautiful Andy! The last time I saw waxwings was several years ago on a lunchtime walk from work in Bury St Edmunds - without a camera! Would love to see some again (suitably equipped).

One of my favourite birds - very striking appearance.

There are still waxwing at 2 locations in Colchester and also other areas of Essex, seems to be a good year for them. The essex bird watching society reports page has several listed in last week or so
