Re: London Gatwick 28th August 1971

That angle of the Laker Boeing 707 really does emphasise the short size of the -138B version... they were even shorter than the 720!

Re: London Heathrow 28th August 1971

Wonderful shots from an age when aircraft were much more exciting than the Boeing/Airbus tedium of today! On the subject of scanners I use a Nikon Coolscan IV ED and I've just moved to Windows 7 32bit OS. I installed the Nikon software but ran into problems and I couldn't use my scanner. So... I use...

Re: More Moscow 1964 pics

The shot above with no less than 10 Ilyushin Il-18's visible in the pic also features what appears to be 2 Tupolev Tu-124. I don't think they are 104's as I don't think any 104's wore that scheme. I could be totally wrong though!

Cheers,

Re: Heathrow slide scans from 1972 & 1973

And one other thing, the Lufthansa 737 in the third pic is actually a series 130. Relatively speaking very few were built, the majority of them going to Lufthansa but they did see service with Peoples Express and later again with Continental after they bought out PEX. I'm pretty sure I shot some in ...

Re: Heathrow slide scans from 1972 & 1973

Great shots!! They bring back happy memories of spotting from the Queen's Building back in 1973 and 1974! As far as I remember the Delta 747's appeared in Heathrow operating for Pan Am. I saw N9900 at LHR on 22 Aug 1973 and N9898 the following day and later noted it over Dublin operating PA 107 on 2...

Re: More Moscow 1964 pics

Excellent shots!! The last picture shows the rear half of an Ilyushin IL-18, a Tupolev Tu-114 and a number of Antonov An-10 which, despite their similarity to the An-12, were passenger aircraft. It was a development of the twin engined An-8 and suffered a number of fatal accidents and was retired fr...

Wonderful shots Rob! All taken in an era when interesting aircraft flew our skies, not like today, just dull Airbuses, Boeings and anonymous business jets..! :(
